How You Can Help Secure
San Jose/Peninsula PFLAG'S Future
A Message From The Board of Directors
Our chapter continues to enjoy very generous financial support from our members and friends. This support has enabled us not only to underwrite our own expenses but also to support new PFLAG chapters, provide substantial support to national PFLAG and to provide a scholarship program for deserving young people. We thank the individuals and organizations who have made this possible.
As we look to the future, we want you to know that there are many ways to provide financial support for our PFLAG chapter. Here are a few for your consideration:
Membership dues
A very basic way is to join our chapter and renew your membership each year. There are several levels:
Individual Membership | $30 |
Household Membership | $40 |
Student Membership | $15 |
Benefactor | $50 and up |
Angel | $100 and up |
Diva | $1000 and up |
Outright Gifts
You may write a check to San Jose/Peninsula PFLAG for any amount at any time. You can also participate in various fundraiser events each year. Some other ways are:
Ask your employer about matching gifts programs.
Designate PFLAG for your United Way contributions
Gifts of Stock
You may contribute stock to PFLAG and receive a tax deduction for the value at the time of transfer. PFLAG is a non-profit-organization that can sell stock without paying capital gains taxes and make use of the full proceeds
Your Will or Trust
Your will or revocable living trust provides an opportunity for you to name Peninsula PFLAG as a recipient of a portion of your estate with a certain dollar amount or a percentage. Such gifts may save estate taxes.
Life Insurance
There are many ways to make use of life insurance as a tax-deductible charitable gift:
- giving an existing policy to our chapter.
- naming PFLAG as the partial or full beneficiary of a policy.
- applying for a new policy with PFLAG as owner and beneficiary
Special Events
You can request that gifts be given to PFLAG at special events such as birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, weddings and commitment services.
Retirement Accounts
You may designate PFLAG as partial or full beneficiary of IRAs as well as other retirement accounts.
Memorial Gifts
You can provide memorial gifts to PFLAG through a donation of funds in memory of a loved one.
THE ENDOWMENT FUND
The Board of Directors took action to establish an Endowment Fund in 2001. The purpose of this fund is to ensure the future of San Jose/Peninsula PFLAG.
Increase in the Endowment Fund can occur in two ways:
- When the Board designates funds from its Operating Fund to the Endowment Fund
- When members and friends designate their contributions to the Endowment Fund
The total income from the Endowment Fund will be available for use at the direction of the board while the principal will remain intact. When you give a special gift in any amount, we encourage you to consider designating it to the Endowment Fund.
In summary, except for dues, you may designate your gifts to:
- the Operating Budget
- The Scholarship Fund
- The Endowment Fund
